Create your own “Lone Red Tree” acrylic painting on canvas board in this two-hour class. All materials are provided, and beginners are welcome, though some painting experience may be helpful.

Class is held Saturday, May 30, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon in the Captain’s Landing Room on the first floor. Students are encouraged to bring an apron, smock, or old shirt.

Join us for a two-day, hands-on introduction to the fundamentals of oil and cold wax painting. Designed for beginners, this workshop offers guided instruction, live demonstrations and plenty of studio time to explore techniques and tools. Micki will cover key concepts such as wax-to-oil ratios, managing drying times and using techniques like reduction and excavation to create rich textures and depth. She believes that it is with good understanding of how colors work together that we can create subtle and sophisticated tints and shades. She will guide us in a simple approach to color and developing a spectrum of values with neutrals and then creating harmonious palettes. Working on 2 to 3 paintings at once throughout the workshop allows students greater freedom and experimentation. While the emphasis is on abstraction, participants are encouraged to incorporate elements of realism based on their own vision and goals. Through exploration, students will learn how to identify emerging subject matter in their work and refine it. All materials are provided; students only need to bring an apron, roll of paper towels and landscape photo references. A separate $45 supply fee is due directly to the instructor at the start of class. Max number of students - 8. Cost $179.00 plus credit card processing fee = $184.00. Among the Felted Flowers: Needle Felting Workshop

Spend an afternoon tucked into a cozy, cottage-inspired studio creating delicate spring florals in wool. You’ll learn needle felting techniques while designing a floral piece that reflects your own style and favorite blooms. Participants will have the opportunity to follow a guided plan or drift off into their own creative composition. This workshop is perfect for all skill and experience levels but does require the use of small, sharp, felting needles - best for ages 10+

Let yourself wander among the flowers

Slow down and settle into the calm of spring with ink and watercolor as we create a peaceful wildflower composition. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to use rich walnut ink for expressive linework using both dip pens and brushes along with layering soft watercolor paint to bring your florals to life.

This workshop is designed to be relaxed and beginner-friendly. Participants will be guided in instruction but also encouraged to create unique pieces. Each person can expect to leave with at least one finished 5”x7” or 8”x10” inch work of art.

Come unwind with earthy tones, flowing lines, and the simple beauty of nature.

Take your furry friend's personality and turn it into a vibrant explosion of color and fun with a mix of playful patterns and unexpected elements. Capture your pet's spirit in a way that's exciting, eye-catching, and full of energy. Led by local art educator Dannielle Arneson, participants will use a photo of their pet*, transfer it to a 12x12 inch canvas, then apply a variety of mixed media to enhance the portrait. This workshop is for all ages and experience levels!
* Upon registration, you will be asked to email a photo of your pet before the workshop so it can be prepared to transfer to the canvas.
